Change Your Shower Game With This Pre-Shower Routine
Shower time is your personal time away from all the hustle. Away from work, away from any stress, it’s the time you owe to nobody but yourself. Whether it is an invigorating morning shower that energizes you for the day ahead or a long soak that helps you unwind after a tiring day at work, showering means much more than just a wash, rinse and step out. To ensure you get all the benefits of a good shower, you must indulge in a few pre-shower steps that will lift the whole experience to a new level.
Step 1: Brush your hair out
There are many hair experts who swear by this step. Brushing wet hair can cause damage and lead to more hair fall. Therefore, it is best to brush your hair out before entering the shower. If it’s not a hair wash day then simply tie your hair up in a bun after brushing and slip a shower cap over it.
Step 2: Take off your makeup
We can’t stress enough on the importance of this step. Getting rid of the makeup that has been on your skin throughout the day is essential for your skin to breathe. Grab a cotton pad and a makeup remover and get cracking. This ensures that a majority of your makeup is off before you enter the shower and the remaining is off before you hit the bed, post shower.
Step 3: Dry brush
Dry brushing is a method of removing dead skin cells from your skin’s surface and improving blood circulation to make your skin look radiant and plump. As the name suggests, it involves using a dry body brush and gently massaging your body with it in circular motions. Do this when your body is completely dry and right before you enter a shower. It’s an excellent way of exfoliating your skin.
Step 4: Apply a face mask
It’s not every day that you get the time to indulge in some skin pampering. So, when you do get that time, apply a good, natural face mask and let it stay for about 20 minutes. Doing this before a shower will ensure your pores are open and you get the maximum out of your shower routine.
Step 5: Set the right water temperature
Who doesn’t love hot showers, right? However, a shower that’s too hot is not so great for your skin. A hot water bath can rip off your skin’s natural oils, leaving it dry and dehydrated. So, getting the water temperature right before you step into the shower is extremely important. Time yourself depending on your water heater and the time it takes to achieve an ideal lukewarm temperature.
Step 6: Pick your products
Wasting water while having a shower is a big NO. So it’s best to keep your products ready before you step into the shower. Use a gentle shampoo and conditioner depending on your scalp and hair type. You can pick the Hygienix Cool Protect Body Wash to cleanse your body as the menthol crystals and fresh peppermint extracts will ensure you feel rejuvenated after your shower. Choose a face wash that suits your skin type and while applying a cleanser on your skin, remember to be gentle.
A pre-shower routine may not be possible to carry out on busy weekdays, but it is best to try and indulge in one at least once or twice a week. This will make sure your skin retains its natural glow and stays healthy and beautiful.
